Care of Creation

“The universe is a communion of subjects, not a collection of objects.”
– Fr. Thomas Berry

Brief History

The Care of Creation Committee has existed in some form in the SCL Community for the last 20 years, but came under the umbrella of the JPIC Office in 2018 as one of the interest group areas. The committee’s work focuses on caring for all of God’s creation from a holistic perspective, inspired by Pope Francis’ vision outlined in his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’ – which focuses on ecological spirituality, ecological justice, education and events.

The committee is chaired by Sr. Réjane Cytacki and has 17 Sisters and Associates on the committee who meet monthly. If you are interested in joining the Care of Creation Committee or learning more about what they do, you can contact the JPIC Office at jpic@scls.org or 913-758-6564.
